<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent leakage of image data to the outside while avoiding deterioration in processing efficiency in an image forming apparatus in which image data are stored in a storage device in response to output. <P>SOLUTION: In this image forming apparatus, an image processing unit 9 can perform control in a security mode. An HDD 23 is connected to the unit 9, and store image data to be outputted. An external memory 14 is connected to an interface 31 for connection freely attachably/detachably, and can store image data to be outputted. An image forming unit can output image data stored in the HDD 23 and/or the external memory 14 onto a transfer medium upon receiving the instruction of the unit 9.
