A probe pin and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to mass-produce probe pins within a short time by automating a sleeve manufacturing process and to improve productivity by reducing defect rate. A probe pin(1), comprising a sleeve(5) and a coil spring(6), is installed between external connecting terminals apart from each other to provide an electric signal path of the external connecting terminals. In particular, the sleeve comprises an upper contact unit(3) comprising plural protruding pieces(7) formed at the upper end and bent inward at the predetermined inclination; a lower contact unit(4) disposed at the lower part; a protrusion(8) bent inward; a flange part(9) extended outward on the predetermined spot of the outer peripheral surface; and a support piece(10) cut and bent inward at the upper part. The inner peripheral surface of the sleeve is plated with nickel. The sleeve is formed by bending both ends of a sheet close to each other. The coil spring is inserted into the sleeve and the upper end of the coil spring is supported by the support piece. The lower contact unit comprises a lower body part(11) disposed in the sleeve and a lower contact pin(12) vertically extended from the bottom of the lower body part. |
