PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toilet sand for an animal usually emitting no strong odor, on the other hand, emitting the strong odor when moisture contained in animal excreta is absorbed and effectively suppressing a malodor emitted from the excreta. SOLUTION: The toilet sand for the animal is obtained by using an aromatic granular material 10 adsorbing and holding a small amount of an aromatic component in a base material having properties of generating heat when the moisture is absorbed as the toilet sand for the animal. Thereby, the toilet sand for the animal usually emitting no strong odor, on the other hand, emitting the strong odor when the moisture contained in animal excreta is absorbed and effectively suppressing the malodor emitted from the excreta can be provided.
