PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head restricted with a trailing phenomenon. SOLUTION: A heat radiating plate 6 is connected to one surface 1b side of a ceramic substrate 1, and a plurality of heating elements produced by laminating in succession an electrode pattern 4 comprising a glaze layer 2, a heating resistor layer 3, individual electrode 4a and a common electrode 4b, and a protection layer 5 covering the heating resistor layer 3, on the other surface 1a of the ceramic substrate 1. The thermal head having a joining layer 8 with a heat conductivity of 5 W/(m K) or more for connecting to the ceramic substrate 1 and the heat radiating plate 6 provided between the ceramic substrate 1 and the heat radiating plate 6 in the region right under each heating elements is employed.
