PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve a mutual insecure feeling by enhancing cooperation between a message device and a customer station telephone set. SOLUTION: A messaging system is provided with the message device 1 switchably connected to a telephone line 3 and the customer station telephone set 18. Operating the external communication switch 5 of the message device 1 connects, through the telephone line 3, the message device 1 to an external telephone set 4, allowing message communication addressed to the external telephone set 4. Then, re-operating the external communication switch 5 allows communication with the external telephone set 4 by switching and connecting the telephone line 3 to the customer station telephone set 18.
