The invention relates to a piston (1) for an internal combustion engine. Said piston comprises a piston base body (4) whereon an annular element (6) is screwed, forming an annular cooling channel (14) with the piston base body (4). Said cooling channel is closed by a projection (15) of the piston base body (4) in the direction of the bolt hub (12, 12'). The projection (15), in the shape of an elastically pliable plate spring, is deformed when the annular element is unscrewed (6) and contributes to the resistance of the screw connection.
