A machining apparatus 6 for machining a workpiece by relativly rotating and revolving the workpiece and a tool 1 comprises: a revolution shaft 8 held to rotate on an axis parallel to a center axis of the machining apparatus; a spindle 4 rotating on an axis offset with respect to the center axis of the revolution shaft 8 and parallel to the center axis of the revolution shaft 8 and having a leading end on which one of the workpiece and the tool 1 is mounted; and rotation driving mechanisms M1, M3 for rotating the revolution shaft 8 and the spindle 4 at different speeds respectively.
