A computing unit computes an input guarantee code when data from a cache memory is stored in a local memory and computes an output guarantee code when data is read from local memory. If a partial data is retransmitted to higher-order device, the currently computed output code is compared with previously computed input code, to determine whether data transmission is performed normally. - Independent claims are also included for the following: - (1) method of controlling channel adapter; - (2) disk array device; and - (3) communication unit.
