1,055,858. Electrophysical measurement. BECKMAN INSTRUMENT Inc. Aug. 23, 1965 [Oct.30, 1964], No.35993/65. Heading G1N. An electrochemical electrode for measuring D. C. potentials of body fluids and tissues, or for use as a reference electrode in measuring ionic concentrations and comprises a glass tube with a leak structure containing a wick at the bottom, a non polarizable metal electrode sealed in the wall, and a rubber or plastic cap at the top. The electrolyte in the tube has substantially the same ionic concentration as the sample medium, and may be À9% saline solution or Ringers solution for biological tests. The metal electrode is preferably Ag/ Ag Cl, but may be tin, platinum or gold with their chlorides. |
