OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE, FERRULE FOR OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE, AND OPTICAL CONNECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrule for an optical waveguide which is small in size but has sufficient strength, to provide an optical waveguide to be engaged therewith, and to provide an optical connector integrating them.

SOLUTION: The optical waveguide has an optical waveguide core for transmitting an optical signal, and a tabular clad part enclosing the optical waveguide core; and the optical waveguide is characterized in that the clad part near one end of the optical waveguide core is provided with a level difference or at least a recessed part which changes the wall thickness in the extended direction of the optical waveguide core; the ferrule for the optical waveguide is engaged with the optical waveguide; and these are integrated into the optical connector.
