<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate which maintains superior size stability over a long interval and is most suitable for a large screen LCD and to provide a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The polarizing plate has protective films on both surfaces of a polarizing film and is used for the liquid crystal display device which has at least a liquid crystal cell. The protective film on the liquid crystal cell surface side of the polarizing plate is an isotropic film and the protective film on the other surface side of the polarizing plate is a hot film forming film.
