PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection device having a simple structure with excellent productivity causing few malfunctions, operation failures or the like, hardly generating a deviation, and capable of detecting an optional position highly accurately, and an opening/closing device equipped with the position detection device. SOLUTION: This position detection device has a characteristic wherein a pattern 41a whose shape when viewed from a prescribed position changes following rotation of a rotator 41 is provided on the outer surface of the rotator 41, and the pattern 41a is read by a reading device 43 provided on the prescribed position, and the rotation amount of the rotator 41 is recognized from the read data.
