A wet extraction floor cleaning device (10) having a base assembly (12) adapted for movement on a surface being cleaned, an operating handle (14) pivotally attached to the base assembly (12), a supply tank (2414) having a supply tank outlet (2810), and a recovery tank (2416) having a recovery tank inlet (2712) and a recovery tank outlet (2718). The base assembly (12) has an inlet nozzle (2432) that extends from an inlet slit (2400) proximal the surface being cleaned to a nozzle outlet (2442). The device (10) further includes a fluid deposition assembly (3000) that can be selectively placed in fluid communication with the supply tank outlet (2810), a vacuum source, and first and second external pockets (2422, 2424),. The supply and recovery tanks (2414, 2416) are adapted to be selectively placed in the first and second external pockets (2422, 2424), thereby placing the supply tank outlet (2810) in fluid communication with the fluid deposition system, the recovery tank inlet (2712) in fluid communication with the nozzle outlet (2442), and the recovery tank outlet (2718) in fluid communication with the vacuum source inlet.
