PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly correct the white balance of a main subject area in an image which is photographed by performing light control. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises: a speed light (138); an imaging element (101) for converting an incident subject optical image into an electric signal and outputting image data; a main subject area detecting part (140) for determining the main subject area including a main subject in the image data which is picked-up by the imaging element after performing the light control with the speed light; and an achromatic color part detecting part (112) and a WB gain calculating part (114) for detecting an achromatic color part in the main subject area from the image data and calculating a white balance control value, based on partial image data corresponding to the achromatic color part.
