PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for easily producing a hologram which can reproduce a reproduced image with high fidelity to a target reproduced image. SOLUTION: After an element hologram is once recorded in a local area 25 of a photosensitive material 34, only reference light in object light and reference light enters the local area 25 in a certain period to generate reproducing light from the local area 25 to give a reproduced image, which is photographed by a camera 37. The photographed reproduced image is compared with a target reproduced image and a corrected image according to the result of comparison is sent to a spatial optical modulation element 17. The output light from the spatial optical modulator element 17 where the corrected image is sent enters as object light to the local area 25, while the reference light enters the local area 25.
