PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability and durability of a lash adjuster by providing a high pressure chamber and a reservoir chamber at appropriate positions. SOLUTION: A plunger 42 is slidably fitted in a cylindrical body 41. The high pressure chamber 45 is defined by the body 41 and the plunger 42. The body 41 is energized in a direction to project forward by a plunger spring 49. The reservoir chamber 52 is formed back of the high pressure chamber 45 by dividing a space part 42c in the plunger 42 by a diaphragm 50. A communication passage 42d in provided allowing move of working fluid from the reservoir chamber 52 to the high pressure chamber 45 according to pressure of the high pressure chamber 45.
