METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY RECOGNISING A FACE ON AN ELECTRONIC DIGITISED IMAGE

The invention relates to methods for recognising images by discriminating the image details or characteristics and can be used for automatically recognising a face on an electronic digitised image received from digital of picture cameras in real non specifically controllable filming conditions. Said invention makes it possible to increase the certainty when a face is automatically recognised on an electronic digital image in a real time mode. The inventive method for automatically recognising a face on the electronic digitised image is carried out in two stages. The first stage consists in determining the most probable position of a head, and for this purpose in carrying out a filtering in the direction of the top parts of the head outline, afterwards, in discriminating said parts by means of the properties of the other parts of the outline, i.e. shoulders, side faces and eyes. After determining the most probable head positions, the patterns of the head outline are searched in the surroundings thereof and subsequently they are strengthen and proved by PCA and DA methods, thereby making it possible to attain the reliability and the high search rate of eyes on the image.
