PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of replacing a shared key which can realize a key replacement rapidly and safely even by a device, such as a network home electric appliance, etc. in which calculating resources and memory resources, etc. are limited. SOLUTION: An external device 1 transmits a message based on an existing key replacement protocol, such as an IKE, etc. to a device 2 in a house through an HGW 3 before a cipher communication with the device 2 in the house. When the message for replacing a key is received from the external device 1, the HGW 3 performs a key replacing process with the external device 1 by proxy of the device 2 in the house.
