PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially widen the range of products which can be rolled at the same time by using a prescribed roll-pass constitution in a mill adopting slitting. SOLUTION: A billet is initially rolled into a process section 30 having at least first and second segments 32 and 34 joined by an intermediate web 36, with the cross-sectional area of the second segment 34 being larger than that of the first segment 32. The intermediate web 36 is slit to separate the first and second segments 32 and 34, and the thus separated segments are simultaneously rolled into finished products having different cross-sectional areas.
