The system to mark faults on moving webs (3), from a printing press (1) or coating station and the like, has a marking unit (2) with an applicator (9) and applicator head (14) to apply a colored liquid to the web to mark the fault. The applicator operates automatically, or manually with a remote control (11). The applicator head has controlled movements through a setting unit (16) with one or more axes.
