PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element having excellent display characteristic by improving reflection of an image or degrading of visibility, and to provide a method for manufacturing an element like this. SOLUTION: The organic EL element comprises a transparent electrode, an organic EL layer comprising at least an organic light-emitting layer and a metal electrode one by one on a substrate. By adjusting pressure when forming the surface layer of the organic EL layer forming an interface with the metal electrode, the organic EL element is provided where the interface between the transparent electrode and the organic EL layer is flat and the interface between the metal electrode and the organic EL layer is uneven.
