摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion device, a focal point detecting device, a focal point detecting method, and an imaging apparatus, which detect a focal point at a high speed and with high accuracy and focus comparatively correctly a subject with low luminance or a subject with a small contrast difference. <P>SOLUTION: The focal point detecting device 120 is provided. The focal point detecting device is designed such that accumulation is started in a plurality of areas all at one, a level is monitored by subtracting the minimum value of the accumulation of a photoelectric conversion element in a focal point detection area from the maximum value of the accumulation of a photoelectric conversion element in the focal point detection area, and then the accumulation is finished when a judgement is made that the accumulation in the plurality of areas needs to be finished one by one or all at once. Monitoring is conducted within a sensor in order for each focal point detection area.
