PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of head-and-tail determination of a photographed image regardless of the photographing environment. SOLUTION: The image processor 1 determines a light distribution condition (normal light, back light, or strobing) from photographed image data (step S2), and determines an extraction condition of image area based on the determined light distribution condition (step S3). According to the determined extraction condition, a blank area or a facial area (if a person is contained in the image data) is extracted from the photographed image data (step S4), and the head and tail of the photographed image data is determined based on the extracted image area (step S5).
