PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily reproduce a video scene desired by a user because a reproducing point of a video image can be skipped by various skip amounts with a simple operation in a video reproducing apparatus. SOLUTION: The video reproducing apparatus includes numeral keys for selecting numerals and a skip key for commanding a skip. When a numeral key is depressed and thereafter the skip key is depressed during reproduction of a video image and if a depression time of the skip key is short, the number of seconds for the numeral selected by the numeral key is selected for a skip amount, and when the depression time of the skip key is long, the number of minutes equivalent to the numeral selected by the numeral key is selected for a skip amount, and the video reproducing apparatus carries out skip processing. When a numeral key is depressed during reproduction of the video image, an image 32a denoting the elected numeral is displayed while being overlapped on a reproduced video image 31b, and when the skip key is depressed after that, an image 32b denoting the number of skipped seconds or an image 32c denoting the number of skipped minutes is overlappingly displayed on a reproduced video image 31c or 31e respectively.
