PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retaining wall wherein a favorable environmental watering place function for kingfishers, pied king fishers, druse swallows, etc. is added to the retaining wall by making use of a retaining wall formed by piling up laying blocks. SOLUTION: In a retaining wall 11 formed by piling up laying blocks 1, a cavity is formed in the laying block 1, and a small sized bird inlet/outlet 4 in/from which birds come in and out is formed on the front wall of the laying block 1 partitioning the cavity, and a watering place 6 is provided on the bottom wall of the laying block 1 partitioning the cavity.
