An aluminium workpiece has a first coating of zinc or a zinc alloy under a second outer coating of aluminium or aluminium/magnesium alloy. An independent claim is also included for the method of manufacturing the workpiece, where the metallic intermediate layer is galvanically separated from an aqueous electrolyte.
