The process involves providing a heating unit (1) in the form of a flexible layer. A flexible motif carrying support (2) is disposed opposite to an aspect side of a thermoplastic piece (3). The support is plated against the aspect side, and the unit (1) is plated against the support. The heating of the unit (1) is activated to transfer motif inks. The piece is cooled and separated from the support and the unit (1). The flexible motif carrying support has an inked side (4) turned towards the aspect side of the thermoplastic piece (3). The support is placed between the piece and the heating unit (1).
