PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head shield which has an excellent electromagnetic shielding effect and reliability, and to provide a rotary head apparatus provided with the head shield. SOLUTION: The head shield 9 is provided with a cylindrical part 9b projected from a base part 9a so that an outer peripheral plane 9e and an inner peripheral plane 9d are approached. Also, a head window 5c for exposing a head core 8b is provided at a lower end of a side wall 5a of a rotary drum 5, a slant 5b is provided at an end part of the head window 5c so as to cover the outer peripheral plane 9e of the cylindrical part 9e. Thereby, height h1 of the Z direction of the head window 5c is suppressed small by width h3 of the cylindrical part 9b, while width h2 of the Y direction of the head window 5c can be suppressed smaller than width h4.
