PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a confocal laser scanning microscope having greatly enlarged applicability. SOLUTION: In this laser scanning microscope 1, the main part comprises a light source module 2 for generating excitation light for laser scanning microscopy, a scanning module 3 for collimating and deflecting the excitation light, a microscope module 4 for directing a scanning beam prepared by the scanning module in the direction of a sample in a microscope optical path, and a detection module 5 for receiving and detecting a beam from the sample. In the microscope 1, the sample is illuminated by the first and second illumination light, and, in this case, the first illumination light LQ1 induces the excitation of the sample, and the second illumination light LQ2 is generated by diffraction of coherent light in a periodical structure, and has the periodical structure in the irradiation lateral direction and in the irradiation axis direction.
