PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door for an automobile having a side collision protection device with an easy-to-break panel breakage part for absorbing shocks at the time of side collision. SOLUTION: A panel member 4 is installed to a door 1 for an automobile, and shock absorbing materials 8, 9 are installed on opposed side faces 5, 6 of an outer panel 2 and a door trim 3. A panel breakage part 10 is formed at one part of the panel member 4. A shock absorbing element receiving part 13 of the panel breakage part 10, and an outer plate part 15 of an annular groove part 14 have a structure to cover an interior expansion layer 16 made of a non-dense fiber-containing resin with a surface skin layer 17 made of a dense fiber-containing resin. The shock absorbing element receiving part 13, the annular groove part 14, and the plate part 15 are integrally formed in a manner that the outer panel 2 is arranged flush with the opposed surface 19 and that thickness S of the interior expansion layer 16 of the shock absorbing element receiving part 13 is thicker than thickness T of a bottom 18 of the annular groove part 14.
