摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abberation compensation device which can compensate astigmatism more effectively with a simple configuration and an optical head device equipped with the abberation compensation device. <P>SOLUTION: The abberation compensation device 2 is equipped with a liquid crystal panel 3 comprising a liquid crystal layer 24 and transparent electrodes 22A and 22B, and carries out compensation of aberration of a laser beam which is emitted from a light source and converged on an optical recording disk through an objective lens 9. The transparent electrode 22A and 22B are composed of a central part 30 of a nearly round shape and a periphery enclosing the central part 30, and the periphery is constituted of periphery divided sections 31-38 which are divided into 8 splits centering on the central part 30 substantially equiangularly. D2/D1 is set in the range of 0.5 to 0.65 when the diameter of incidence area 39 of laser beam corresponding to the pupil diameter of the objective lens 9 on the a liquid crystal panel 3 is set as D1 and the diameter of the central part is set D2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
