PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester-based resin low in gas-generating amount at the time of heat treatment, particularly formic acid having corrosivity to a molding machine, methanol having toxicity, etc., and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This polyester-based resin obtained by polycondensing a dicarboxylic acid component and/or an ester-formable derivative thereof and a diol component, has≥0.5 dl/g intrinsic viscosity,≥5 mol% alkylester terminals in the total terminals of the resin, and gas-generating amount when heat treated at 190°C for 15 minutes is≤20μg per 1g of the resin.
