PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording device which can effectively prevent head crash in not only room temperature environment but also cold environment where the fluidity of lubricant on discrete track medium deteriorates. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording device having a magnetic recording medium which has a substrate, a magnetic layer formed on the substrate and lubricants applied to a surface and furthermore, includes a data area including a pattern of a magnetic layer which makes a recording track in a face of a magnetic layer, a servo area of length s formed between data areas along with a track length direction including a pattern of the magnetic layer utilized as a servo signal, and a non-magnetism layer which separates patterns of these magnetic layers; a magnetic head supported in the floating state above a magnetic recording medium; a head slider in which the length L of the slider moving direction of a pad of which surface facing the recording medium approaches most to above magnetic recording medium is the length s of the above servo area or shorter; and an actuator.
