PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium having discrete tracks from which address signals having low noise and good quality are obtained. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium has a magnetic layer formed on a base plate and includes data regions which include magnetic layer patterns that make up recording tracks and a servo region which includes the magnetic layer patterns used as address bits and is formed between the data regions along the track length direction within the surface of the magnetic layer. When respective one corner sections of two magnetic patterns used as address bits on the servo region corresponding to two adjacent recording tracks are arranged to be close to each other, the corner sections themselves of the two magnetic layer patterns are practically joined together.
