PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional digital television receiver that a video image is sometimes differently displayed from intended rectangular conversion by setting video image rectangular conversion before reproduction because the resolution of the video image is not recognized until the video image is reproduced. SOLUTION: This digital television receiver includes a resolution selection means 2007 for discriminating by which of setting of the SD and the HD a designated video image is decoded, and the video image is not displayed differently from intended rectangular conversion by confirming before reproduction, the propriety of the rectangular conversion applied to the resolution of the video image acquired before reproduction. Since the result of the reproduction of the video image and rectangular conversion by an application can be recognized before reproduction, a display result different from that intended by the application can be avoided.
