PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous body having high gas permeation ability by controlling the shape or the dimension of a rod like particle forming the porous body. SOLUTION: The porous body comprises a metal oxide having perovskite structure, has the rod like particle and fine pores and is formed so that the length of the rod like particle is≥2 and≤30 times of the width of the rod like particle and the fine pore diameter when the fine pore volume exhibits a peak value is≥0.1μm and≤5μm. The porous body is formed by an oxalate precursor method and the shape of the rod like particle is decided by controlling one or both of the concentration of oxalic acid in the formation of the oxalate precursor and the preparation temperature of the oxalic acid.
