The screening cover (12) for an electrical or electronic component has a layer (20) containing a magnetically screening material, and a number of particles (24) of a magnetizable material on one side of this layer. The particles may consist of magnetite, maghemite, iron, iron nitride, or cobalt. The layer may be formed by a film (22) of magnetically screening material which may be lead or an iron-nickel alloy. A number of barium sulphate particles (34) may be located in the protective casing.
