<p>A composite type image forming apparatus capable of using both a dedicated record medium such as digital paper, on which a visible image appears when discharged, and ordinary paper, so that it is excellent in practicality, versatility and space-saving, and capable of sparing paper resources so that it is excellent in resource-saving. The image forming apparatus comprises (a) a thermal discharge type printing unit including a thermal discharge type printing head provided with a discharge unit having a discharge electrode, and heating means having a heating unit for heating the discharge electrode, for controlling the temperatures of the individual discharge electrodes, to which discharge control voltages are applied, to control the occurrence of the discharge, thereby to record the record medium, on which the visible image is made to appear by the discharge from the thermal discharge type printing head, and (b) a visible image type printing unit for forming the visible image on a visible image carrier type printing medium.</p> |
