A chimeric DNA polymerase comprises an N-terminal region derived from Thermus thermophilus (Tth) DNA polymerase I and a C terminal region derived from Thermus aquaticus (Taq) DNA polymerase I. The DNA polymerase domain of the protein comprises a portion of the Tth DNA polymerase domain operably linked to a portion of the Taq DNA polymerase domain. The protein may be used in DNA amplification (PCR) methods and in kits for such methods. |
