The receiver has an attenuator to receive and attenuate a radio frequency signal with inband signals and an inter-band signal. A signal-to-noise ratio adjuster (230) measures a signal-to-noise ratio of the inband signals of a desired channel of a signal output from the amplifier. Automatic gain controller detectors (235, 237) control the attenuator to attenuate the radio frequency signal based on the measured ratio.
