The device has a sensing probe (4) to detect movement of a moving target (3) intended to be coupled to a rear part (20b) of a base of a support (20) such as seat. The part (20b) moves or deforms along a direction parallel to axes (11, 12), when a passenger sits on the seat, so that tension exerted on a flexible control unit (5) is released, and the target moves in an inner chamber (22) and positions against a stop. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle seat comprising a device for detecting deformation of the seat.
