Ferrule cleaning and inspecting apparatus has a cleaning device using which a ferrule (FE) at an end of an optical glass fiber is cleaned, and an inspection device which inspects the condition of the ferrule. The cleaning of the ferrule takes place through a mechanical movement of cleaning material over an end of the ferrule. The cleaning of the ferrule takes place by a cylinder having a cleaning material, where the cylinder is actuated at the end of the ferrule.
