<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a keyless entry device operating an on-vehicle apparatus 10 and a portable apparatus correspondingly using a radio signal including ID of the portable apparatus and ID of the on-vehicle apparatus in transmitting and receiving radio signals between the portable apparatus and the on-vehicle apparatus 10. <P>SOLUTION: This device comprises the on-vehicle apparatus 10 and the portable apparatus. The on-vehicle apparatus 10 comprises a first memory 6 storing the ID of the portable apparatus, and a second memory 7 storing the ID of the on-vehicle apparatus 10. The portable apparatus comprises a first memory storing the ID of the on-vehicle apparatus 10, and a second memory storing the ID of the portable apparatus. In transmitting and receiving the radio signals between the on-vehicle apparatus 10 and the portable apparatus, operation is performed in one operation mode out of active operation and passive operation, and the ID of the on-vehicle apparatus 10 and the ID of the portable apparatus are included in the transmit signal in either operation mode.
