The present invention provides a method of modulating T cell receptor ("TCR") dependant regulation of a signaling factor in a T cell, and a method of modulating the proliferation and/or differentiation of a T cell, which includes administering to the T cell an IBP modulator in an amount effective to modulate the function of IBP. The present invention further provides a method and a kit for identifying a modulator of IBP-Lck interaction, a modulator of IBP-PI(3,4,5)P₃ interaction, a modulator of a signaling factor in a T cell. Also provided are compositions containing an IBP modulator.
