PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active energy ray-curable composition which can form coating films having low water contact angles and capable of being easily wetted with water and can form coating films having water contact angles little changed even when left under high temperature conditions. SOLUTION: This active energy ray-curable composition comprises an ester compound (I) obtained by reacting a compound (a) represented by formula (1) [R1 and R4 are each independently H or a 1 to 30C alkyl which may have one or more branched chains; R2 and R3 are each independently H or a 1 to 8C alkyl which may have one or more branched chains; X and Z are each independently H or -Y-OH (Y is a group of polyoxyalkylene structure); wherein all of R1, R2, R3 and R4 are simultaneously not H] with a compound (b) having a carboxy group and an active energy ray-curable unsaturated double bond in the same molecule, or a urethane compound (II) obtained by reacting the compound (a) represented by the formula 1, a polyisocyanate compound (c) and a compound (d) having a hydroxy group and an active energy ray-curable unsaturated double bond in the same molecule.
