<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power controller in which flickering caused by an ignition failure of a thyristor is prevented at light loading. <P>SOLUTION: A dimmer comprises a first phase control circuit PC1 provided with self-arc-distinguishing control elements Q1 and Q2, a second phase control circuit PC2 provided with thyristors T1 and T2, and a control means CC arranged to operate the self-arc-distinguishing control elements Q1 and Q2 in the first phase control circuit PC1 with a desired phase of an AC voltage half wave by inclination control, to supply a short time trigger signal continuous for a required ignition time and ending while ensuring at least a reset time before ending the AC voltage half waves to the thyristors T1 and T2 of the second phase control circuit PC2 when conduction is susbstantially saturated, and to turn the self-arc-distinguishing control elements Q1 and Q2 on. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
