SOLUTION: In photographing, the photographer can specify information indicating the top direction (top and bottom direction) of an image through a direction indication part 6, and the direction indication information is recorded and held in an image recording part 7 together with image data. At this time, the image data are stored as they are without being rotated. In image display, the image data are rotated when necessary referring to the direction indication information held together with the image data.
