METHOD FOR OBTAINING A STABLE GENE SILENCING IN EUKARYOTIC CELLS

A method is described for obtaining the stable silencing of a specific gene sequence in eukaryotic cells which comprises the over-expression of a coding sequence for a RNA dependent RNA polymerase and/or an increased production of a RNA dependent RNA polymerase in said cell. The RNA dependent RNA Polymerase is preferably the one encoded by the qde-1 gene of N.crassa.
