PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a folding umbrella capable of flattening the folded state of being particularly effective in effectively increasing convenience for storage and carrying, without impairing the umbrella function such as the open umbrella size. SOLUTION: First vertical grooves 34a and 34b are formed in left-right end parts of left-right wing parts of an upper runner 21 and a lower runner 22. First through-holes 35a and 35b are formed in a position crossing with the first vertical grooves of the respective runners, and second through-holes 36a and 36b are formed in a central side position from the first through-holes. In the upper runner 21, a master rib 41 positioned on the left and right in the first vertical grooves is individually pivoted by a support shaft member 37a arranged in the first through-holes, and the other master rib 41 is collectively pivoted by an annular support shaft wire 38a inserted into the second through-hole 36a. In the lower runner 22, a receiving rib 44 positioned on the left and right in the first vertical groove 34b is individually pivoted by a support shaft member 37b arranged in the first through-hole 35b, and the other receiving rib 44 is collectively pivoted by an annular support shaft wire 38b inserted into the second through-hole 36b.
