PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a correct adjustment using a small-scale circuit so as to acquire an optimum focal distance. SOLUTION: The projector device 1 projects a test pattern which is a predetermined image onto a screen 3, causes a camera 12 to image the test pattern projected on the screen 3, and causes a control section 11 to measure the brightness of each of pixels adjacent to one another. When the absolute value of a difference between the adjacent pixels is greater than a threshold, the control section 11 counts pixels having the brightness determined to be greater than a prescribed value, and adjusts the focal point so that the number of pixels subjected to counting becomes maximum.
